most hardware stores or electronic stores will carry them.

If you are looking for an adapater JUST for recharging batteries all you need is the adapter, don't let the sales people rope you into a $50 voltage converter.

a good power adapter will run you under $10

this is the exact same one I bought for my trip, cost me $5 CAD

I didn't have a problem with it

Yup - as Pinion says, you shouldn't needa voltage converter for hooking up your digicam, etc. If you look at the power brick that comes with your electronics, it should say that it has a voltage rating of something around 110-240V - in that case, all you need is the plug converter

And DEFINITELY buy one of these before you go, as it won't be more than a few bucks. They'll ream you for 'em at the airport!

Dumb question,

I am going to the UK. Can I buy a converter in the states or do I need to wait to get it over there. With the exchange rate being so ungoddly high, I wanted to save as much money for the soccer games and pub nights as possible.

nydance - for that reason alone, you should buy it in the US. You can get a plug adapter for a few bucks or a power converter for around $15 at Radio Shack or any other electronics retailer... They cost the same but in pounds in the UK, so you'll be paying double over there.
