can anyone give me an idea of how expensive (or cheap...i hope!) SIM cards are? Next time I am in Europe I'd like to bring a phone not so much to keep in touch back home, but to confirm couchsurfing plans or to get in touch with local friends I might meet. I am just wondering if this is economical. I will mostly be in eastern europe, if that makes it any cheaper than western europe

I have nooooo idea about europe but in CAN it's 25$ plus activation fee (also 25$) with Rogers

Do you already have an unlocked GSM phone? You'll need one of those to use your SIM card in.

I know that AT&T (formerly Cingular) has a nifty application on their website that shows you a phones capatability with the different countries' networks.
