I just bought a Samsonite adaptor/converter to bring to Europe. It says it's a 1600 Watt converter. The back says:
Do not use with power tools or elctronic circuitry (ie. computers, tvs, battery rechargers etc.) This is a stupid question, but I'm going to be bringing my digital camera with me and it only uses a recharable battery that came with the camera, so I have to bring my charger along. Do you think I will be able to use it with the convertor? Or will it blow up? Has anyone used convertors to charge their batteries? |
You shouldn't need a converter for anything except for hair dryers and sewing machines. ;)
Most electronics now have a built-in transformer that will work with various countries' voltages. Look at the cable/power brick of your digicam's charger. It should have a voltage rating, i.e. ~110 - ~240, which means it's good anywhere. All you need is an adapter plug. Same goes for iPods, electric razors, laptops, etc. etc. |
