Hi folks,
I'm thinking of heading to the UK next year and working for bout 6 months before backpacking Europe. I've heard that its easy for Aussies to get jobs in the UK....but should I try to organise one before I go, or just worry about it when i get there? And can you actually save any money while working, or does it all go towards living costs?
Also, I'm a 19yo female thinking of going alone....and a little nervous. Is it a good idea to go by yourself?
Cheers

Go by yourself!! Lucky you, you can get a working holiday visa. Probably it'll be easier for you to get a job when you arrive rather than trying to line one up before you go. Have a great time!

I haven't really got that far....I'm not really that fussed if i stay in london or not. I was thinking maybe i'd try to work in a pub where they give u accommodation and food. Has anyone done that? Otherwise I'd be happy to get a job in retail or...anything i could, really.

Pub work is prob the easiest and most fun job to get in my opinion but ive never heard of anywhere that put you up and make your tea.. Ive heard of Hotels that do this but expect to work veeeery long hours and hotel work is never as much fun working in a pub.
Office work is prob the best paid and has the best hours, if youve done a bit of paper pushing in your time.. and you could also get lucky and end up working quite a in a fun office.. they do exist shock horror!
I hope this has helped! :D

getting the working holiday visa is easy. find the UK embassy website for australia and download the form. i'm pretty sure you have to get it before you go, but i could be wrong. you send them your passport and they'll add it in. ask for the 2 year visa...
the end.
