I would highy recommend visiting Medina Mayrit, an Arabic Bathhouse/restaurant in Madrid, very close to Sol.

I tried one in Cordoba and they were running a couples special for 45€. Well worth the money. I scored major brownie points and came out feeling like a million bucks. Imagine a sweat lodge or a long night in a hot tub, but better! Such a chill atmosphere too. Everything is candlelit except for a few can lights in the ceiling. The walls were dripping with water and everything was made out of marble. I highly recommend

I checked out the website for this place and it says you can only stay for 90 minutes. I am curious are there any good baths in madrid that let you stay longer or have no time limit. The interior looks gorgeous but coming from spending a semester in budapest where you can stay at the bath all you like for 15 dollars, it just seems unfair. I am going with my bf and when we were in the baths in BP we stayed like 3 hours

Hey Lizz, although I've walked past it several time recently it's been a few years since I've been inside. I don't recall a time limit or time police.
That was the only bath house that I have tried.

And yeah, a meetup for sure

My two experiences in Cordoba and Granada:

- Took a midnight bath (discounted) and there where no more scheduled appts. We just were tired and ready for bed so we left before we had too or before anyone told anyone to leave. Perfect place for a couple. Hard to describe how wonderful this first experience was.

- Took a late night bath (10 - 11 p.m.) and felt rushed because some women did come by in a very polite way to remind us that we had to go. As we left we noticed that it had been 90 minutes. I think we were a little delayed 5-10 minutes. But that aside the message was better here. Price was a bit higher, but we also didn't go at midnight. Not to mislead they had great customer service.

I want enough money to invest in one here in Austin. If I could recreate that kind of atmosphere here I would make a mint. However, the Alhambra

is a bit hard to reproduce

I would say this is a must do while in Espana regardless of where you go!

Both facilities offered multiple services. There was a just "water bath only " option at both businesses for very cheap prices. Just call or email em and ask. I don't see why you can't reserve multiple 90 minute times. Maybe even get a break on the price if you barter good!

I know what you mean about starting one of those back in the states. It would get non-stop traffic and be completely unique. Imagine the free press you'd constantly get and it would cater to any demographic. Fuggedaboutit...
