North American Tour Directors

Looking for something different? Are you passionate about travel and education for students? Do you enjoy having a schedule that you control?

We have something just for you!

We are looking for freelance tour directors to escort EF’s Explore America Tours throughout North America. Tour directors accompany our American, Canadian and British student groups from their arrival at the airport until their departure. As a tour director, you are responsible for the successful execution of the tour, which includes:

•Reconfirming all arrangements for hotels, meals, transportation
•Acting as a liaison between chaperones, bus drivers, suppliers, and EF staff
•Providing educational commentary and walking tours
•Adhering to the tour budget and accurately accounting for all expenses
•Helping with hotel check-in & check-out, room allocations
•Suggesting free-time activities
•Handling any participant concerns and on-tour emergencies

Ideal candidates are:
•Fluent in English, although Spanish or French enhances your application
•Knowledgeable about North American history and culture. Previous teaching or tourism management experience is a plus
•Well-traveled, patient, organized, and a confident leader
•Flexible with a good sense of humor

Currently our focus is to find tour directors who live near and have historical and logistical knowledge of the major metropolitan areas listed below. Please note that we will consider candidates based in other areas.

US: Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Orlando and San Juan, Puerto Rico

Canada: Montreal and Quebec City

Tour Directing with EF is seasonal employment from March through June. Scheduling is flexible.

Top candidates will be invited to attend a Tour Director Orientation Program. Programs will be held at our Boston office in January, February or March 2006. Dates TBA.
