What's the lowdown on expats looking for Asian cruise ship work?

What are the best countries to look for this type of work?
Which cruiselines hire in Southeast Asia? Malaysia? at which ports?

I'm basically looking for a gig on board a ship which travels to many different places with ample time off to explore those places. Realistic?

On a side note, perhaps working on board a plane is better? Would flight attendents get more time off in between flights or cuise ship workers at port?

I dont know much about the notion of cruise ship hiring but i saw a special on cruise ships employees once. The employees get there own gambling (big)room, there own bar, theatre, recuration room, the works. They have it nicer and better than the middle class passengers. It looked pretty cool. That would be a major advantage to doing the curise instead of the plane option.

I have been on exactly one cruise with Carnival. They hire a lot of people from Asia to work on the ship. I talked to a lot of them and got the impression it was a tough, tough job with virtually no time off. The time betwen one weekly cruise and another is only a few hours/half a day. Just enough time for the crew to get off, phone home, buy some supplies and head back to the ship. The hours they worked were incredible. The advantages to them were a much better wage than what they would earn back home and the ability to improve their conversational english skills. If you are looking for ample time off, I am not sure cruise ship work is the way to go.
