has anyone ever gone through this company whilst working in the uk?

ive got this book from sta travel and it says if i pay $575 i get :

-a pre-arranged job in an English pub prior to arriving in the uk.
-somewhere to work, live and sleep (free live-in accomodation)
-a good wage (between GBP120-160.00 per week after tax)
-kitchen, laundry facilities and bedding.

now my question is, is it worth me paying that much for the stuff above, or is it just as easy to find a job/somewhere to live while im there.

I looked at the same program when considering doing a UK trip...but ended up doing a usa working holiday instead.

Im planning to get a working visa for next year and spend a while in England, and am looking at that STA travel thing again, but a few people have told me you can get better jobs, earning much more, on your own. I like the idea of a prearranged job though...rather than getting to London with no job or place to stay, spending heaps of $ partying and never getting around to job hunt!

Anybody been through any other Work @ an english pub programs??

well, i always say low-ball the estimated weekly wage because it often turns out to happen that way so say...

100 pounds a week which is rough $200 a week...so

3 weeks of work pays the fee, then another 3 weeks for your flight

so it depends on how long you would be there really

also,

if they r taking out tax u will most likly need a visa which is not a totally free process so there i money there....if you are going for say 6 months i think it is an ok deal...but 1 or 2 it may be better to just save some loot here and go over w/o having to work there...just my 2 cents

also, i am always wary of jobs in which i need to pay to get...kinda defeats the purpose
