hey guys/ladies...
Ive done a few trips before, usually about 2-3 months at a time, but this summer I cant find anyone to got with me. :crybaby: Im thinking about maybe going to work at the Pink Palace, cause they will hire over the net and they offer a 'commitment' (aka, hopefully wont kick me out without warning) for at least 2 or 3 months. Ive never backapacked Europe alone before, and I've never worked while doing so. Anyone with a bit more experience give me some feed back or suggestions. I've been to the palace before and I know what its like...a bit crazy for a long ammount of time :wine: , but I think on the whole it will be a fun way to spend a couple months. Im sure they pay absolute dog shit, but maybe with nothing to spend it on (assuming they give me most things i need) and the 1500$ or so I can afford to take with me I will be a ble to hook up with some of the other travellers working there and maybe go for a month of hosteling before I have to come back to school.

Anyone know anything about what its like working there, or if its a good idea to accept a long term commitment to that one place? I just dont have the $ to spare to just pack up and go, hoping to find jobs to hold me through. I need something concrete lined up so that I know I'll be able to stay for a little while without my finances running dry. I really want to get the fuck out of my university routine for a substantial ammount of time - more than a few weeks - but Im not sure if this is the way to do it!

Any advice, pleeeaase!!!

Hey, working in a place and living there is really the best way to see a country. You really get a feel for it. I spent several months working on a kibbutz in Israel and will look back on that time fondly for the rest of my life.

I say go for it...

Do they give you days off during your work week? Or do you pretty much work 7 days a week? Well, if not, you'll have Corfu pretty much down!

Seriously, you're not the first to want to do this, so I'd simply ask them. Tell them you'd like to intersperse some trips in during your stay. They know the ferry schedules, I'm sure. It would be great if you worked, say 2 weeks, they gave you 4-5 days off to go sightsee somewhere, then come back and work another 2 weeks, sightsee again for 4-5 days...

Ask 'em...never know, they may have already done this for other folks.
