Does this seem a little risky? Any ever do anything like it? I'm not sure I would feel comfy with paying money (a couple hundred is a nice sum of cash) to fly halfway around the world to hope to find a job....can't you do that on your own??? Am I missing something? Any input would be great because I prettyt much quit my job(well will in 3 months) so I can travel for the summer. I need to work on getting another one, so I figured, hey, look ALL OVER....but I don't have any experience in that, so any pointers would be great!!! TPUNK RULES B)

yea i looked into them before.. I dont like the idea either but it's how my south america friends come into the usa so it must work.

How much does it cost? I don't like having to pay money, but a lot of programs work that way.

ok, i think airfare is up to you..the program costs:

Application Deposit
Initial payment to be paid with your application. $35 (USD)
Acceptance Payment $365 (USD)
Insurance Fee - 4 Months $280 (USD)
Insurance Fee - Per Month
For each additional month $75 (USD)

which incledes 2 paid hostel nights...and 12 months free internet and access to their job finder centers...not really that bad when u break it down...i will have to look into it more

Not to bad. I am sure if you keep looking there are other programs where you don't have to pay, except maybe airfare.

As an australian I was considering this last year (to go to USA) but opted to backpack independently through europe instead. It is a reputable organisation and I went to a couple of their meetings. However, I found the costs too high and the fact there wasnt much room for independent travel after the program had finished turned me off. That said, programs that are catered for americans/canadians coming to aus/nz might be more favourable.

From what have heard (and take it for what it is worth) I think it would be easier to apply for a work permit for Australia, which I think is reasonably easy and find work yourself. A lot of people either get work in the bar industry, or fruitpicking, short term things like that. Tons of people do this, I don't think you need to pay all that cash up front like that - looks like a rip-off. I think there are actually employement agencies in Australia that will even place you for not much money once you are over there. This might help you a bit more. thanx for the info...I was reading into it a bit more, and they company didnt really do anything for you that you couldnt do for yourself...it does seem a bit scammy...ill have to check out your link...thanx again

I can understand south americans (or others) using it to get a work visa to come here but for us? I think it's just an easy (though expenisve) way to get be lazy about it.

It's not all that difficult for us to go overseas and find work under the table.
