Ok, if all goes well I'm going to be working as a guide in a small French museum this summer. I'm flying over from Canada. Once I get there the owners will provide me with room and board. No base salary, just tips. So my question is, do you guys ever tip the guide? if so how much?
Obviously I'm not doing this for the money. The experience of living in a chateau for the summer is plenty, but i'm just curious. Also, if anyone has any experience with this sort of thing I'd love to hear from you. This is will be my first time working abroad. Cheers! |
that sounds awesome!
As i have never had a guide for a musuem I have never tipped one. |
yeah, when i go to big museums (louvre, prado, etc.) i usually choose to do my own research instead of relying on a guide (nothing against guides, i just like going at my own pace). But this museum is simply a private residence that houses a historic collection, so the guided tour is the only way to visit. Of course, this also means smaller, more intimate groups than the paris "mobs".

well then i imagine the people you would be escorting around will have loads of money they would like to give to a poor travelpunk.
Best of luck. |
Wow, that sounds great! Keep us posted, and I'm sure if any of us are in Paris during your sejour, we'll be throwing a li'l sumthin in the tip jar.
|
actually its in the dordogne/perigord region southwest of paris.
i definitely will keep you posted. I want to see a bus full of Tpunks lining up for the vip tour when i get there! |
That sounds pretty cool! I never get a guide either....but no doubt you'll have a great experience.
|
It's official, I'm gonna be here www.musee-napoleon.com in july.
