Hey i'm from 21 from australia and travelling to the UK soon... i will be on a pretty tight budget but want to stay for a while and work in a pub/club...
i am stressing out a bit about how much everything will cost so i just want to know should i pay a company to organise a live-in job for me? it costs around $500. alot of people tell me its easy to pick up work and not to bother but the last thing i want is to run out of cash! how easy is it to find central cheap accomadation in london??
Any help would be appreciated!

Try this link out... You'll want a working holiday visa.

As for finding the work and accomodation itself, TNT magazine is a good resource once you get to London. As are, of course, all the great people you'll meet at your first hostel

Im in London and its true if you dont care what you do youll get work easily, it probably wont pay that well but. You can get accomodation for £10 a night at a hostel so long as you book it and pay again for more nights before your reservation runs out. Or pay weekly to make it even cheaper. thegumtree.com is real good for immediate work apparently

I would definatly not pay mate.
There are plenty of job agencys, you will need a vias though.
here are a few of the agencys
http://www.reed.co.uk/
http://www.pertemps.co.uk/
there are plenty more and most have branches in nearly every city.
if you have a certain job in mind go in there with a formal approch i.e. shirt
and tell them what you are loking for with a CV, if you go in in a tshirt and ask what they have they will try and put you in a factory.
Good Luck, let me know when your around as i live here

Steph, being American we can't get work visas unless you get it through bunac.com and even then I think it has to be done through your school, though I could be wrong about that.
Hey James, how you doing man? I had a great time in Pamplona. How's your arm? This is Jason, the guy w/ the glasses

Yeah, my study abroad advisor (wonderful person ) used to work for bunac on the UK end and is willing to help me out with that here. I was just wondering if I could save the cash and get an under the table sort of job rather than messing with a visa.
Thanks James!

"under the table sort of job"
They are harder to come by but you could try small restaurants or that kind of place.
Most agencies will not take you but I hear some dubious ones will but you would normally end up being charged under the table fees (probably not worth it).
Your best bet is pubs or small family run companies or possibly cleaning jobs.
How much do bunac charge ?
