I think this would be completely dependant upon which country you will be going to, as opposed to generalizing for the entire continent! See if you can do some research online about the specific area you are going to. I would assume that having some knowledge of spanish or portugese (again, depending on which country you go to) would be helpful with that. Good luck!

Well said SV. You can teach English in South America... We have tons of English schools that would love to have a native teacher. You can work in the mall, fast foods... It really depends on many things... The only thing I can tell u is: Don`t expect to have a good salary here. They pay really bad... You just have good chances here if you are graduated in a specific thing.

Alright thanks,

I'm going to Roatan(The big island off of Honduras) and ive been looking around on the net and everything and mostly it's all English teachers that they are looking for.

I know of a couple of places where I could get my teaching abroad certificate or diploma. If i had that do you think therewould be any minimun age requirement down in Roatan for becoming an English Teacher??

Thanks!!

I had a girlfriend that taught english in Peru in the northern city of Piura for 6 months and had a pretty good experience doing that. The company she went through was called GlobaLingua. She did have some problems getting a few paychecks, but it worked out in the end. Not sure if you're still looking but there ya go. Good luck.
