Default Farm/Harvest/Ag. Work - and i don't mean WWOOFin' it! :)

hey y'all ~

first of all, apologies if this has already been asked and/or posted - i tried searching for a similar query, but didn't come up with much. perhaps i'll try again later?

anyways... this isn't necessarily about farming ABROAD, persay (as i can actually find a lot more farm opps. in places like britain, australia, NZ, and the like than i can in the U.$... which is [unfortunately] where i'm from)... has anyone gotten PAYING gigs doing harvest work in the states? if so, where the hell did you find it? was it a personal connection, or... what? i'm sure that there are farms out there in need of harvesters; the mexicans can pick all they want (no disrespect to MX - i'm headed there in june!), but if you're a U.S. citizen, how do you go about finding these types of things? i've perused the internet pretty extensively...

anythings helps. mahalo (thank you) in advance.

namaste, blessed b,

My roommate is (not Mexican, and) working in a farm this summer. She also worked for Heifer International in Massachusetts last summer at their farm up there. She applied to several places and got offers at a lot of them. It's shitty pay (a stipend that comes out to pennies per hour), but she enjoyed it.

Look out for internships. That seems to be what they're labelled as in general. Like I said, pretty shit pay, but she got housing last summer and I think that's the case with this gig she has too. She didn't have any connections, she just applied to both. This summer, she even managed to find something in the Maryland area so she's not far from home.
