Default Live, Travel and Work Abroad

After my backpacking trip in SE Asia, I'm thinking of living and working abroad. I just felt that I needed to, I'm stuck in a relationship right now and I just want to make a radical change in my lifestyle. I want to be free for the meantime.

Do you know any websites that offer direct hiring and no visa required.

I know I still have to save some money and all that before I could get to travel in Europe.

I'm guessing if you don't hold EU citizenship and want to work/live in Europe for several months, you'll need some sort of visa or work permit. Perhaps you could contact some firms before starting off, and try to set up a job in advance?

Your choices are this (if you're planning to go to Europe):

Either show up and look around for under-the-table work, or try to get a legitimate job with a work visa in advance. Since companies have to $ponsor you for a work visa, typically they're looking for highly-skilled workers to fill positions. Also they have to prove, in order to get you the visa, that they want YOU in particular because they can't find anyone else in the country who fits their qualifications. Bummer!

So yeah, showing up and bumming around the hostel circuit looking for an on-the-sly restaurant job or something would be your best bet. Good luck!

Dharma, do you just get paid cash then? I assume you dont have a NI number then and can't use the NHS, or have you been able to that without a visa as well? Just wondering cause I went through the whole mess of getting a working visa and wondered how difficult it was to do it without. Considering I love the NHS like a mother, I probably couldn't do what you do if I wasnt able to use it.

The NHS and North Middlesex Hostpital will always have my love and gratitude LOL.

If you went to the UK on a working holiday and already have an NI number could you go back and use it to work (hopefully the employer doesn't ask to see visas) or would you get caught out?

I think your NI number stays with you forever, so that shouldn't be a problem. It would depend on if the place asked to see your visa/passport I suppose. (I have always had to show it). The NI number would be necessary for legal work though. So if you do under the table, I would imagine they wouldn't even want to document you at all.
