Default USA Work Visa

I was wondering about a working holiday visa.....Im looking into travelling America for about a year and working along the way to support myself. I looked at the US Embassy site but notice they dont offer visas for casual work, is that because you need a visa for casual work or im not allowed to work full stop?? Ive looked at gap year programmes but you need to be enrolled in a full time university course (which im not) or most of the visas you need to be qualified (which im not).....

Are there any options available to me? The US is so hard to get into

Thanks!

And also, just for info, I am a British Citizen (I dont konw if that will help me or not)

Just come in with your passport and stay until they kick you out!

Seriously though, I found this thru UnitedStatesVisas.gov

Quote:
Some nonimmigrant visa categories allow a person to work in the United States for a limited period of time. Anyone seeking to come to the United States with the intention of working temporarily, performing services or receiving training, must obtain a nonimmigrant visa in the appropriate employment related category. As examples, if you want to come to the U.S. as an athlete, entertainer or entertainment group, registered nurse, temporary laborer, trainee specialty worker, minister of religion or religious worker, fashion model, certain artists or international cultural exchange, intra-company transferee, and treaty trader/investor, you will need a specific visa.
I know they started limiting these last year and all these beach resort towns that rely on Eastern Europeans were scrambling to get young, hot women to work at their shops.

Sounds good!! I am able to be in the States for 3 months without a visa, so I might just pitch up and look into visas when Im there. But then there is always the risk of not getting one...but what the heck, I dont mind. Haha. I am a elderly care worker at the moment so I should probably try get a visa via care work because normally there is a shortage of care workers, but not sure about it in America.

Yeah, that website made it seem like if you had a real skill and could fill a specific job, that would be better than just trying to come over and be a waitress or whatever. Good luck with it.
