Another One-- Work in England, HELP!

I'm trying to find a way to work in England for awhile next fall. Not really planning on earning much, hopefully just a little bit to help me fund some travel around the country. I was looking in to things like Bunac.com and similar sites that offer help with visas and job placement. But, apparently visa regulations are changing for Americans who want to work in England and the sites aren't going to be able to offer the program next year. So, considering that does anyone know of any other options? Like finding work at a hostel or working out visa shit for myself and just going over there in search of a job. Or, should I just work my ass off all summer, save mucho-mucho money and try to see how long I can bounce around England/Europe on the cheap for 3-6 months?

Anyone have any experiences or insight to share? Just trying to explore possible options to make my seemingly impossible dream of temporary living in the UK come true!

I would try to save up as much money as possible and then try to travel. A month beforehand maybe I'd email some hostels and ask if they hire in exchange for free accommodation or something like that. Its almost impossible for us to get a working visa in Europe unless you have a special skill or something in which case your company would take care of it. Even if you were to do BUNAC there's this whole chain of people before you. UK citizens, other EU citizens (ie the Polish), the Aussies on their working holiday visa, the Canadians on their shorter working holiday visa, and finally us Americans.

UK is an expen$$$ive country. I think you've got your heart set on the UK, but ever thought of bumming around somewhere cheaper like central Europe?

I'd say pick up some extra work before you go so you can relax and focus while you're overseas.

However, should you choose to still work when you get there, the Gumtree is the Craigslist of the London (UK and now many other countries as well). I would check there under "general jobs" (dog walking, assistant, fundraiser, etc...) or whatever suits your fancy.
