Default Jobs in Berlin

Hi all

i have somehow gone and fallen in love with Berlin and it ties in nicely with me running (very) low on cash

So im looking for a job, in the last couple of days i have walked round about 10 hostels and although i have given my name to a few none had jobs available at the moment

i have also fired off email's to about another 15 although it looks like since i dont speak german (i want to learn which is another reason for wanting to stay here) my best hope is bar work

If anyone has any suggestions for places i might try id like to him them

Thanks!

Ahhh Berlin, it does have a tendancy to trap you!

Well I would say you have a few options depending on how desperate you are....

1. Hostels, there are like 50 of them in Berlin. Visit them all. If they refuse you, ask them if they know about work.

2. Take up petty street crime. Pickpocketing and such.

3. Get a couchsurfing account and ask in the forum on the site.... Berlin obviously. Make friends through couchsurfing and network like Lizz says.

4. Put up ads in German and English (use a german or google translator to convert it) and post them on bulletin boards..."dude for hire...can lift furniture, conduct sexual services, typing speed 40wpm, etc"

5. Squatting looks to be pretty easy in Berlin as a last resort. Find an old building and set up shop.

6. NewEurope tours.... yes I know I know, this is some kind of pyramid scheme, but it can get you some bucks. Become a neweurope tour guide in berlin... requires you do a lot of studying of the city and do a lot of free tours, but eventually you start making money.

Hope that helps.

well i gave up, but only because i hae been offered a job in Rome

in Berlin i visited about 25 diff hostels, could of got a job at a pub crawl but the money was to low to live on

id love to be a tour guide but need to know more about the city, mayby i will go back for that in a year or so, i did speak to some of them and the free tours actually make them quite a lot of money (100+ euro's a day)

but for now: Bar work in Rome

^^^That's not so bad at all...

Congrats on your job, despite the location not being your best choice.

I must ask, how much were they offering?

Not a bad 2nd job I would think? There was an American running a pub crawl in Rome. No idea what he got paid, but he preyed on the girls and drank for free. I'd say that'd be a decent job.

If a hostel ran one, you could probably barter for free stay and a stipend.

And where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

im English, it would of been 90 euro's a week for the first while and considering i had to cover accomadation in that was far to poor
it was a diff company to new europe though, apparantly they get paid more depending how many people they get to the club at the end

But apparantly it is a very good way to meet girls, i was talking to one of the guys and he said he can get 5 girls a week (i guess it depends on your moral standerds, mine are low )
i think it would make a great second job but i would be losing money at that rate

as it is the Rome job has been put on delay for at least 2 weeks, so im back to square one and getting worryingly close to having to call my parents and ask them to bail me out (i have about £130 left, i doubt i can even afford to fly home)
