Default Driving jobs?

Hmm okay soo this is kind of a random question... do you all know if there is some sort driving job that is seasonal employment? I was chatting with a guy I work with who used to be a semi-driver and was telling me all his crazy stories from his cross-country experiences, and I thought that would be a sweet summer job, to drive cross country. Obviously I do not know how to drive a big rig (LOL!) but do you think there are companies that need summer time drivers that would have the sort of opportunity? I tried looking at like FedEx and stuff, but those are all sort of local drivers... Shit I would learn how to drive a damn big rig if I knew there was such a job for the summer.

Anyway, random sort of questions that isn't really an abroad thing but this was the most relavent topic I could find to stick it under haha.

Semi, no, but limo yes. Semi's requre CDL's to operate (as do air-brake trucks). There are classes to take, tests, etc. However...

In MD you can drive a limo with a simple physical and DOT card, and work PT, etc. Check your state when you get back home.

Is cross country the main thing you're looking at? If so you do need special training for big rigs, although you can learn in a reasonable amount of time. BUT, like every other type of job experienced drivers have a much easier time getting a job, if you have no experience it'll be harder. Also, lots of truck drivers own their own rigs, that might make finding temp work harder since you wouldn't own your own equipment.

If its just a means to travel, what about Amtrak? Or a freight company? I don't really know anything about train work, but it might be a little easier to do on a temporary basis.
