Studying In/Around Luxembourg
Okay . . . so I'm looking into my options for studying in or around Luxembourg. All my searches have come up with no results, or bad results.
My first question: is this even worth looking into since I'll be starting as a sophmore? Or do I at least need to have my bachelor's before studying abroad? Do you think I'd be able to find a college that offers the lower-level courses in English? My German's nowhere near good enough to get a good education with, and I don't think it would be even after a lot of improvement. So is this even worth looking into? |
More and more universities offer programmes for international students in english, at all level.
What kind of programme are you heading for? My quick search results for undergraduates in Luxembourg : one year english culture programme http://www.uni.lu/formations/flshase...eennes_anglais several diplomas and certificates fields in a british Open University based in Luxembourg main page http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?A02 Luxembourg page http://www3.open.ac.uk/near-you/north/p5_8.asp college and university - Luxembourg http://www.mit.edu/people/cdemello/lu.html I hope it helps ! |
Thanks so much for the quick response. I thought I already replied to you, oops. Sorry.
Well I went to the University of Luxembourg a few days ago and spoke with a counselor. It won't work there unless I speak French. So much for that idea. I'm waiting on a response from the German university in Trier. My big concern is how the credits would transfer to the States. It seems that in Europe, they have a very different system. They don't get credit for individual classes, only the the degree or certificate as a whole. I don't want to stay that long, and even if I did, I can't get a straight answer on how they transfer to the States. I just want an easy answer! One possibility is to get a part-time job working on an American base in Germany so that I can take University of Maryland classes on the bases. But AAFES (the employer that runs all the crappy part-time jobs) is known for being a horrible employer and not very reliable for work hours and such. Also, I'd have to start the day I get out of the Army, which would ruin all the travel plans I've had for the last few years. Hmmmmmmm . . . . One more question. Does anyone know how a Masters degree from a German University would be accepted by employers in the States? My girlfriend has a Masters of Business Administration from Germany, but we're wondering how that'd work for her in the States. Any and all ideas appreciated. Thanks! |
