I'm a full time college (or university if you prefer) student who is hoping to work in Britain over the summer. My father grew up in Liverpool before moving to the US and almost all of my family still lives in the UK. This gives me a number of free places to stay (London area, Liverpool area, Southwest coast area) and I am exploring the possibility of BUNAC.
Basically I just have to apply, pay a fee, and I can work in the UK for 6 months? Finding a job will be a pain, but I will have a large family support network. Any fellow tpunkers have BUNAC experience? How was it? Tell me all you know please. |
I went to work in Australia on a visa through BUNAC but already had a job lined up, so didn't have to spend any time job hunting or moving around for random jobs like a lot of others. I'm getting another visa now through them to go to the UK in the spring.
Yup, your understanding is right, basically "pay to play." So if you know you want to work and need a visa, they're the people to go to. I think the prices are similar to any competing companies. |
If your Dad is a Brit then I think you can get a work visa without Bunac. I did it for the UK in '05 and had a great time. Bunac sets you up with a bank account which is nice and being with Bunac kind of gives you a reference that employers will recognize.
