I'm brand spankin new to this message board. I need it all. Advice, suggestions, personal success stories. Whatever you got, I'll take it.

I really want to go to Ireland for a "working holiday" type of stay. I'm an American, my student status expired in June (I graduated over 6 months ago), and I would like to do this legally. There aren't too many options for people in my situation.

Does anyone have any stories about working under the table and how that turned out for them?

Now I could be 100% wrong.. but I thought working holiday visas were only available for citizens of commonweath countries... Aside from that, I'm not sure what your options are if you want to work legally in Ireland... Ugh, sorry... I just realized this post is going to be of no help at all. Good luck though, I really do hope you find something...

Maybe Ireland should do a press release. We're officially our own country now, no longer under British rule, Guiness on tap...

Are you of Irish decent? If you are you can become a citizen, they introduced new rules but I'd look it up.

As an American I'd say you have a good chance of getting a working Visa. There are allot of Jobs in the service industry, if you have a medical background they'll roll out the red carpet and invite you into the country. Then there's construction loads of jobs there too.

Ireland needs 20,000 migrants a year to fill demand for workers last I heard so you have a good chance.

Hi,
As an American, you can get like a 6 month working holidaymaker visa, I know loads of Americans who do that, and you can work legally for those 6 months. However, there arent too many of those given out for Ireland. I dont know much else about the whole deal, but you could always look at SWAP's website and see what they have to say about it. Otherwise get a UK working holiday visa, and visit Ireland a lot. Hope that helped somewhat!
