i think my dad has a degree from there.. and thats about the extent of my knowledge of macquarie. you'd be able to find out anything from macquarie students in this forum:

the bored of studies message boards is a really great student community, it started out being just for NSW high school students in their final year, but i guess as all the members have grown up the university section was added. hope it helps

I actually go to Macquarie. Will be finishing up here and moving on soon but it's a good place to go for humanities & social sciences so yea. It is quite modern but still has some traditional bits of a university. The university is situated in the suburbs, about an hour [by bus] from the city central.

Other than University of Sydney and U of New South Wales, MQ is up there. I think a semester here will be good experience. MQ is known for it's study abroad programs and that's why there are many exchange students here. Sydney is a great!

Here's the website if you wanted to know more:

While I haven't studied at Macquarie, I've been to the campus numerous times and petalbear is on the mark.

I'm sure you'll have a great time there (and in Sydney, in general).
