I'm a highschool junior from the US on exchange to Slovakia right now. I didn't speak any Slovak when I got here, but already (almost two months in) I can understand about 60% and speak about 20%. School is really difficult and I'm not really learning a whole lot, but the experience is awesome. I'm living with a Slovak family here that doesn't speak any English, and I get to hang out with Slovak kids everyday. I would definitely encourage you to do it if you had the opportunity.
