i'll have a thousand dollars for one year to go from ecaudor to the southern most point of chile. any further advice? do you think it could be done with about seven months of planning? would really like some feedback cause its eating me alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh yeah and i guess safety would be an issue too, but i dont put too much thought into that, i just dont want to end up in solitary confinement for eight years. hehehehehehe :whistle:

The only hitchhiking I've done in Latin America is this past November in El Salvador. It was a very rural, off the beaten track area, and folks were amazingly friendly. That said, I know nothing about doing it in S. America...

I wouldn't dare to do that, From all the time I've spent in South America I never got by hitchhicking, but if you are gonna be in S.A for that amount of time it's possible for a meet-up + my peeps have cars and I still have my Rodeo down there, so I guess I might be of help if we meet paths. (Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Peru) But the problem relays on the fact that I don't know when we are gonna be doing the S.A trip. I'll let you know and update me on your plans.

Thousand dollars for one year......hate to say it but unless you know something most people don't your probably going to have some probablems there. Especially if you get into any kind of trouble, good luck though. :smoke:

Oh yeah I forgot about that, yeah 1000$ is not that much for a year maybe 'nuff for 3 months and I'm just thinking superficially not on unexpected stuff, but get a debit card (if you don't) that way you'll be safe®. Besides you can work on the road or make extra money on the 7 months you think about it.

Nope, I was born in La Plata, but I lived "most" of my life in Buenos Aires... Though it's true, they say people from Rosario are gorgeous. Maybe I should pay them a visit...
