Ok folks I have been around the globe but have somehow avoided ever needing a visa. Now that Im traveleing to Brazil Im a little edgy about the process. So far I understand that US citizens can pick up a visa good for 90 days and then we can extend it to 180 while in Brazil. The part Im uneasy about is the fact that you need a copy of your plane ticket to apply for your visa! Ive never applied for a visa so Im kinda clueless as to what extent they look into your life to say yes. I think I may have a few outstanding tickets in another state (no warrant) and I know this sounds like a stupid question but does anyone know how extensively they search your history? I dont like the idea of spending 700 bucks for a non refundable ticket and then dishing over another 100 for a visa that could be turned down! So is this whole visa thing just some formality to collect the 100 bucks and save time at the airport or what? I dont have a record, but Im sure they could find a reason if thats the idea. Not really a big deal but I would like to hear some experiences with this. Anybody ever have any problems?
