eww that's nasty..I'm gonna dump all the nasty perverted boys that i've met into the amazon.
I've heard a crazy thing too. Think it's a lie . but it sounds pretty nasty. That basically the ocean water is salty due to the tons and tons of sperm that whales let go into the ocean waters. The sperm mixed with the ocean water create a salty taste in the water..???
okay so cd, you seem to know everything. why is ocean water salty?

ummmm, whale sperm, I think not....but maybe this would be a bit more reasonable
"According to the Office of Naval Research web site, the sea is salty for several reasons. As rivers run toward the ocean, they pick up salt and other minerals from the rocks and sand they pass by. The rivers' waters are constantly being replenished by fresh water from rain and springs so they don't taste salty, but the water in the ocean collects all of the salt and minerals from all of the rivers. Minerals from the ocean's floor also dissolve into the water and add to the salinity, or salt content, of the sea. Oceans average about one cup of salt per gallon of water..."
that kinda makes sense, becasue when the salt is brought from rivers into the ocean it stays and only the water itself evaporates back into the streams, so if you think about it the ocean is always saturated with salt no matter what (maybe even super saturated in areas near really hot vents on the ocean floor).....things that make you go hmmmmmm
