Ok people. I am considering traveling all over south america and I need some feedback. I only have 900 US dollars to work with (LOL) and I leave in 11 days. I am almost positive that that money wont get me very far in any of the other S american countries.
So this is just an idea I need to bounce off some peeps... What do ya think? |
Dude, I say go for it witha clear concience....
South America is ( from what I hear) a very affordable place to trek. The key for you will be to STAY AWAY from the high tourist areas where prices will be top notch. stick to small cities/towns, get to know locals and ask around about private rooms in peoples homes 10-20$ a night i would guess and might come with a meal. Keep an open mind when eating, and open markets will be your best bet not only for food but nick nacks if ya wanna bring home some small gifts. Where are you flying into??? and for How long???? |
Im flying into Sao Paulo and out of Sao Paulo I arrive on sept 6 and my flight doesnt leave until dec 24th soo if i can afford it I will stay the whole time
I think ill stop by borders tommorow and pick up south america on a shoestring to see what i can see... the whole idea sounds pretty enticing. I would really like to see Angel Falls for sure... other than that i dont really know what else there is to see in south america... im kind of under the impression that unlike europe most of south america is the same... |
If you can get ahold of jteichgrab (or something close to that...), a tpunker who doesn't seem very active now, he did the same thing. He'd have loads of advice, I imagine. Try sending a PM or e-mail (if listed) to him...
Have a blast, Jake! I think I'm heading close to that way in November...El Salvador is looking more and more like the winner in the November travel derby... worldwidemike |
