anyone know cost for buses transportation, food, n brazil, chile, argentina, peru, venezuela? im writing a budget for a proposal and i need some specifics.. if anyone can help tha info would be schweeeeeT! :)

All right so here's a bit more info that I dug up on the net. Basically the dollar sucks so in brasil it's not as good as it was. Any taxi will take you to a bus station and they are generally large with buses leaving to go everywhere all day long. I always did a show and go cause I wasn't a pussy who needed someone to hold my hand and show me how it's done, So show up at the station, walk around till you see a company going where you want to go, they'll list their destinations on their little kiosk things. Buy your ticket and either get on the bus or have a beer till it's time to leave.

I use the big mac value meal as an authoritative method of discerning food costs so if it costs 6 bucks here in the states it will cost you 3 in brasil and 1.50ish in argentina. I haven't been to the other counties you're touting but I imagine there is plenty of info scattered throughout the boards on all of this if you learned how to use the search button.

Oh and you've got to give help to get it. Thanks so much for coming back after your eurotrip to help contribute to the boards. Get out there and do it and do not talk smack if you aren't going to put anything helpful in. You're welcome to our bounty of info but not if you are going to harsh the positive vibes.

From what I read the buses in Argentina are not only the cheapest but also the best way to travel.

they are comfy. I often sprang for the first class seats. They are even sometimes seperated from the main cabin and i heard rumors that some of the bus lines even serve alcoholic drinks in first class, though i never had that pleasure. Brazilian buses are nice too but probably on the same level as greyhound and not as nice as argentinian. In neither country nor in chile will you find a "chicken" bus.

Considering you have 6 posts, could you be part of the reason you think this board sucks. Don't come asking questions whilst being critical.

If your looking for specific information why not consult a guidebook, usually they'll provide ballpark prices for buses, trains, or short plane rides. Also, if you're doing a proposal, I'm guessing for a business you work for, they may want a solid research for your price quotes. Some businesses won't relay on what joe-backpacker says on travelpunk. Since the economy and the buses/transport aren't always officially set to times. Check the guidebooks at the library, or even a bookstore. I suggest books because they always contain breakdowns of specific city, country and region costs and transportation. Sorry you find the boards un-helpful but we usually respond better with a specific question or questions related directly to a specific area (ie "How much is a bus ride from Caracas to Quito" or "What's the best hostel in Lima"). Many of our members are busy planning their own trips and don't have the free-time to research for yours. Pick up a guidebook, I promise it will give you a detailed breakdown.

i didnt come back on here because when i did the site was down and then life took over.. bills school etc and it wouldnt renew my password so i had t get a new email address and make a new name so that was a pain so i went through alot to get back on here and the board has cjanged reguardless....

Busing around in Argentina is cheap, easy, and fast, not to mention comfy. I would assume that busing into bordering countries would be about the same. It's been years since I've been there so the dollar exchange is probably different - I was down there for the 2001 crisis and the exch. rates were all over the place. I'm not sure how much....I want to say like $30 for a ticket from Rio Negro area to Buenos Aires. Maybe cheaper.
