WORKING MY WAY AROUND THE WORLD - IS IT POSSIBLE?

Hi, I'm a first time traveller due to leave January of next year - first stop the UK. I plan to work there for 6 months and have a close friend that I can stay with the entire time which is great. I want to save as much as possible whilst I am there so I can take of to EU for the summer, well really as long as I can afford. I want to know if it is possible to find work there as I make my way around. I am worried about the language barrier as English is my one and only.
The way I am going at the moment with finances I will probably only have about 2.5k aussie and I imagine this will go pretty quickly and probably before I even reach Europe.
I have not put any limit on the time I will be away for, I actually want to be gone as long as possible so working as I go is the only way I can achieve this.
What countries is it possible to find work in whilst in Europe?
Realisticly how much money do you think I will need per day?

I would appreciate any advice - especially if you've done something similar

or i think it is flight centre or STA travel have a scheme going where you can do pub work which is paid has accommodation and all that. However these schemes don't usually pay much.

Australia has reciprocal Working Holiday maker arrangements in effect with the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Republic of Ireland, Republic of Korea, Malta, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China, Finland, the Republic of Cyprus, France, Italy, Belgium, Estonia and Taiwan.

Anyways, I've bolded European countries. All of the countries above allow Aussies to get working holiday visas. For all of the countries above that you want to work in, Google the website for their embassy in Australia and find the information on the site.

Sometimes the best things we can do at travelpunk are point you in the right direction rather than do all the work for you...plus, I'm lazy.

Many people in Europe speak English very well so you probably won't need to worry about that...the notable exceptions are Finland, Spain, and Portugal - not that English isn't used there, but it's not as common (especially amongst the older people).

As for finding work - check out job boards at hostels for casual work...might be shit jobs but they'll fund your next adventure

If you're travelling budget - like, really budget - you could get by on 50 Euros a day - as long as you're not getting blind drunk too often and you're making your own food - this varies by country though...I found Sweden FUCKING EXPENSIVE!!! (20 oz. of beer = $11 AUS), but I was in bigger cities - off the beaten track you may find better prices...

It's probably better to budget for more just in case.

50 euros is tight, but it is possible to go cheaper. I did it for 30 euros a day, including sleeping. However, the more you save the more you cut. We walked everywhere, didnt pay to go in most of the museums and we either made our food or boguht bread, water, fruits. Thats not including souvenirs. If you can budget 75 euros a day then you will be able to go about your day without any restrictions. So shoot for 75 but if you go cheaper you will be fine but i dont think it is possible to stay in hostels and go cheaper than 30 euros a day in Western Europe.
