I am on my Round-the-world trip now. I have been to Brazil and Argentina. Make sure you take your time there because both countries are HUGE. I could have easily taken 6 months in Brazil alone to see everything (and I didn't see much because I loved Rio so much) and 3 months to cover Argentina. They are both very cheap.

If you have specific questions then fire away.

1. I have heard of people being robbed in Rio. It never happened to me. Best thing to do is dont wear anything flashly like a watch or camera bag. Simply try to blend in a little better and not be as much of a target. Also only carry your money for that day.
2. Drinks: Beer (Skol, Bohemia, Brahma), Caipirihna (cane alcohol with limes and sugar)
Food: Rodizios! All you can eat meat and sides. They run around with large chunks and cut off until you tell them to stop. Very cheap as well. Cheap ones cost around 7 quid. Also go to the juice bars which are everywhere.
3. Yes. There is definately a big difference in QOL.
4. Yes. Its the end of may/early june on Copacobana beach.

Hope this helps!

Oh and for the Rodizios you can find them for 4 quid. 7 is the top end.

Hi well done for deciding your round the world trip it'll change your perspective forever! Hope you enjoy the working phase and get your determined boots on! I did a bit of a different route from you but will be off again for good in a couple of years! (yes its that good), I hit Australia and New Zealand on my travels, trust me theres no shortage of things to do! New Zealand is pretty much heavily beaten track so have no worries about things to do there, if your into social ans communal fun the Kiwi Bus might be worth a look, its basically a big bus of people you travel around with doing all the different activites, some people do find it a little restrictive and it gets called the 'big green fuck truck', there are other buses, stray and magic- magic being the most free lance but they all pretty much set your route! If you want to head it alone maybe try putting adverts in hostels when you arrive askink for people to share a camper. Highlights of New Zealand for me were- The 134 meter cable car nevis bungee in queenstown, White water rafting in River Valley on the north island (this place is so the best), Black water rafting in Waitomo, The worlds cheapest 13000 foot skydive in Taupo, The Tongararo crossing and Franz josef glacier but tbh theres so much amazing stuff in NZ!

When you go to Australia depending on time and taste I dont know where youll want to hit. The East coast is heavily beaten backpacker land and is great for socialising and partying aswell as a host of cool stuff to do (noosa everglades, Fraser Island, The Whitsundays on solway lass, Cape tribulation, Byron Bay-the arts factory) but the population is pretty much backpackers, if you want to get off the beaten track Id definitely say head to the east coast, and other places in australia, its huge underpopulated and has a wonderfull hidden aboriginal culture! Hope this helps I know I rambled!
