Just thought I'd share my plans with you. I'm off on my 6 month RTW trip on 1st November- can't wait, only 4 weeks left at work-yey! I travel first to Bangkok, then fly to Hanoi and spend 3 or 4 weeks travelling down the coast and fly out of HCMC back to Bangkok. I then spend about 4 or 5 weeks travelling around Thailand- doing the islands etc. Then through Malaysia to Singapore. Fly from there to Sydney in January and spend 6 weeks there before flying to New Zealand for 4 weeks in March. Then to Chile, Peru (Amazon and Inca Trail), Argentina and Brazil- fly home from Rio. If anyone wants to meet up at any point, or has any advice to give me that would be great. I may also need your help via emails as I go along!!

Jen, your plan sounds perfect ! Have you got your tickets yet ? Which airline are you flying with, and how much did you pay ? That might interest other tpunks preparing for a RTW trip.
Buying your ticket for Hanoi from Bangkok is the cheapest solution, for tight wallets.
Have you planned Christmas and New Year Eve ? Looking at your itinerary, you'll probably be in Singapour. I don't know much of a party is going on there, but in Bangkok it's a huge fiesta ! C R A Z Y !
Will you spend the whole six weeks in Sydney, otherwise where are you heading in Australia ?
Yep, I have lots of questions !!! But only one comment : You'll spend the winter under the equator, I'm jealous !

Hey...good luck struggling through the last 4 weeks. I'm headed off in a year give or take a month on a RTW. So like you said if you need a hand......I've never done the RTW but even though my trip is a year away I'm researching everyday!! Also it would be great to get updates as I'm looking at stopping at a few of the same place. Take care Jen..have a good trip!

Thanks for your lovely messages! I booked the trip through STA and paid £1600 for my ticket- it was more cos of going to South America- it's a lot cheaper if you come back through LA, and also I got some internal flights included. For Xmas and New Year I will be in Phuket- Patong Beach! Heard it's a bit tacky but thought that would be fun around that time of year. When in Oz I have a flight to Uluru for 2 nights then a flight to Cairns. I think I'm then going to get a Greyhound pass and travel down the east coast and end back up in Sydney. Doesn't sound real to me even now! Yes- for sure it is going to be bloody hot!!!
Oh yes- budget! I'm probably banking on spending about £1000 per month. I'm spending my inheritance that was supposed to be a mortgage deposit, but I thought this was money better spent!

Forgot to say- my flights are with Qantas, LAN, and British Airways. I think I bought the ticket that allows you to do up to 29,000 miles. My Inca trail is a prebooked group tour with a travel agency- just to be on the safe side.
