West Coast Road Trip (Oregon Coast)

On a whim my friend and I have decided to take a road trip down the Oregon Coast when I am home for the month of October. We have done a quick look through a few books and websites, but were wondering if anyone that has actually been to the area may have any suggestions. We figure we have about 10 days before she has to be back at work, and are hoping to do some camping or hosteling along the way in terms of accommodation.
