Shoes!!
Help,
i am getting really confused on how many i should take. Basically these are my requirements:
1) Need some trainers/shoes that i can do hiking in
2) Sandals for hot weather, but comfortable to wear all day
3) Smart shoes for going out in
4) Flip flops for use in the shower
can anyone recommend some shoes or how i can maybe combine them?

I took sneakers, and flip flops...the flips were usable in the shower and i could pull them off when going out as well.

I'm the biggest fan of Keen sandals, kind of like a flip flop, but your toes are protected and they are perfect for wearing for long treks, and are waterproof etc....

On my last trip I had a pair of hiking shoes (not full-out boots) since I was coming in from a chilly climate, my Chaco hiking sandals, which are good for the trail but also purty enough to wear out, and a pair of flipflops for the shower and casual walks around town, but also nice enough to wear out.

I brought hiking shoes, "fancy" shoes, and flipflops for the shower. ended up sending the fancy shoes back.
I highly recommend Keen. Excellent shoes.

My advice is to bring two at the absolute max. I ended up bring two pairs of shoes and giving one away to reclaim the space. Flipflops and sandals are a good idea but your hiking shoes and smart shoes can be the same pair.
I was given a pair of footprints as a gift and they worked out pretty well. I really beat the hell out of them (the leather inside started to wear a bit and jagged in the wet weather so I ripped it off)

i just have a pair of slipper things?? and if they die i buy a new pair.
mind i always travel in hot places and wearing trainers is a Bad Idea (smelly too) i walk about barefoot quite a lot at home though so my feel are very tough. i cant stand wearing trainers and stuff its so restrictive. its either slippers or full on doctor martens for me
and nice shoes? nooooo dont do it. you well dont need nice shoes. (what are nice shoes?)
