Leaving in 12 days!!
Hey in 12 days im off, breaking out of Europe for the first time and flying over to Mexico for a 3 week mini adventure! Im almost nauchious with excitment!
So - I have a few questions for a first timer on the other side of the atlantic: Maleria tablets- do you keep taking them if you feel really ill with them? Are night buses in Mexico and Guatemala safe? Where are the best beaches between Cancun and Chetumal? Here is my itinary, any constructive critism? 11th Arrive Cancun 2pm Merida 12th Merida 13th Merida 14th Campeche 15th Planque 16th Planque 17th San Cristobal 18th San Cristobal 19th Guatamala- Lake Atitlan (Which village to stay at) 20th Lake Atitlan 21stLake Atitlan 22nd Lake Atitlan 23rd Coban 24th Coban 25th Tikal 26th Tikal 27th Belize 28th Tulum 29th Tulum 30th Tulum 1st Tulum 2nd Cancun Airport- departs 15.45 Boooo Did i meantion I was excited??? I haven't been to Central America so the only response I can provide is about malaria pills. Indeed, you're supposed to continue taking them otherwise you are no longer protected. But the side effects are usually easy to control. Mine had diarrhea as side effects, which I got badly one week after starting taking the pills:crap: , but Imodium took care of my problem. I know this makes a lot of pills, but I guess it is worth it...

Very exciting!!! 12 looooong agonizing days. The anticipation is the best though! Enjoy it. Only been to Cancun (which I like to consider Florida) Glad to see you aren't spending anytime there. We made it to Chichen Itza, and that was totally worth the trip. Can't wait to hear how your trip goes. Have a blast and travel safely-_-

That's awesome. I don't know much about Mexico aside from the touristy places I've been on a cruise, but your trip sounds fun! Good luck.

Ah the Riveria Maya. I'm super jealous, that looks like a great trip.
I would suggest staying in a bungalow if you get a chance, there are plenty to be found especially south of Cancun through Belize. Would be a great experience, and for little $$$ you can stay directly on the beach. Regardless have fun, and report back! I've been interested about this area for awhile now. |
Well its now only 9 days untill I am due to leave. However unfortunatly my grandad past away on Monday and the funeral will be the day after i am due to fly out.
I have looked and it £400 to fly out two days later. My parents and Grandmother tell me its ok to miss the funeral for something so important to me but I feel sick with guilt and my grandad has played quite a big part in my life! It feels a little disrespectful. Im totally stuck between a rock and a hard place and have no idea what to do for the best. Does this make me a horrible selfish grandaughter for missing it because im going round in circles in my head!? |
I'm sorry about your granddad. :friends:
No, it wouldn't make you a selfish girl at all. The best way to take the decision is to anticipate the future: in a year from now, how would you be at peace with yourself: to have attended the funerals or not? If you decide to go on the planned date, you could "attend in thoughts" the funerals, by praying from afar during the time of the ceremony. Maybe find a church in Mexico. I'm sure your granddad would appreciate. :) |
As I see it a funeral is an arbitrary date. The passing has already, unfortunately occurred. You could wait until your return to pay your respects.
Good advice atchoum. You have my condolences for your loss. |
