Default Scandimonium 2008

Well we got together with my brother-in-law and his wife the other day, bit the bullet, and bought our tickets. We had a lot of limitations in terms of days away so this is the best we could come up with. For a variety of other reasons it was basically do this trip all together now or forget about it for a few years. Financially its certainly not the best time (weak dollar, Scandi is $$$, etc.) but we realized, "hey, its just money." You can't take it with you and there will always be other expenses going on in our life. While it will be tight we can do it. Plus, using some of my frequent flyer miles I've earned at work in the past year will help us out.

June 18 - Overnight Flight to Amsterdam from Philly
June 19 & 20 - Amsterdam
June 21 & 22 - Copenhagen
June 23 & 24 - Stockholm
June 24 - Overnight Ferry to Helsinki
June 25 - Helsinki
June 26 & 27 - Tallinn, Estonia
June 28 - Flight to Gatwick, then home to Philly

Its another whirlwind tour but should be pretty cool. I love that we're going to Estonia at the end because that's what i'm looking to the most. Also, we picked these places because I've never been to any of them! First time I didn't have to repeat a destination a European trip (minus the Gatwick airport). We already have the plane tickets and accomodations all booked up too. I've learned when you're this time-constrained, it pays dividends to have it all worked out in advance. If I had a month to wander around I'd leave it more up in the air.

No Lapland!

Tallinn should be cool, that's one place I really want to go to.

Alright I just got back a few hours ago and I'm exhausted. I promise I'll get into reviews and details when I get some rest. I need to decompress here. But I thought I'd quickly mention that we had a great time and thanks to a late shipment from Tony I got to tag a few places with bright shiny TPunk stickers...including the ceiling of Amsterdam's Bulldog Hostel's elevator (lift).

Sweet! Did you get a photo of it ?

You just got home, or you just got back to your hostel from a day of site seeing?

Yeah, gotta get back to work - no 4 months trips here, we just get away for about 2 weeks whenever we can. Today's tasks are laundry, cleaning the house, getting things in order for work tomorrow, and of course the Euro 2008 final...I'll get to posting stories and pics when i get a chance...

So this took a lot longer than I wanted, but I got my first new blog post up about the trip. I'm trying to do it sequentially and do it right while catching up on work and other stuff but I'm getting there.

You can kinda make out the picture I took of the TPunk sticker I stuck on the top of the elevator.
