Actually, for me for a long time, it was because I got settled far too early...

The reality is, now that I'm in my mid thirties, I'm all about getting un-settled...

(I'll just do like Tumblezweeds does, train the kids up and take em with me)

I'm just getting started & I'm in my 40s. Yes, I have the house & the job but what I've learned from WWM is that you've gotta decide to do it & do it! (Sorry about the Nike ad)

I'm 32 and I am nowhere near settling down. I'm just getting started, although I have been wanting to do this for a while. Keep going!

Totally, I just turned 33 and am traveling more than ever. I traveled a lot as a kid and a fair amount in my twenties, but now in my thirties, I'm getting out of country twice a year. No kids, and a job that allows me to take the time off. Traveling with a wife is also nice, adds twice the income for the fundage.

No wife here, although I never really tried to get one. But I can imagine the fundage involved with having the "other half" with you.

I don't know if I'm just off right now, but for some reason this post makes me really really sad. Like, buy a pint of Ben and Jerry's and go home and and watch Old Yeller sad.

I understand what you mean about this thread making you sad Jessica! Although I guess, real life exists and most of us aren't able to just travel with a bottomless wallet. I think if we were to travel all the time, it would make it a lot less special.

Its funny how money can make a person sad in so many different ways. For me, I don't give a shit about being in debt, but I don't like having to scrimp to take time off to travel. The double income def. helps, but its still not that easy. We just don't spend money on anything, and focus our extra cash on our next trip. Somehow, we are both extremely focused on travel.... Its our passion!! I'm sure all here understand that. I get bummed out daily that I'm not on a plane somewhere, if I was very lucky, I would just throw my pack on and travel indefinately. Hello Lottery, are you listening, give me the money!!!

First post here.
I would have to say money. I am 30 and have just finished up with school. All I could think of was finishing school and giving ALL my money to the university. Now that I am through I am suddenly finding out that I have much more money then I am used to.... can you say travel budget! I want to travel more now then I did when I was younger.

Same thing happened to me. I finished school when I was 29 and when I started working I thought I was Donald Trump. But I started a certificate program and now I am back in school (I'm and idiot) and traveling is again hard. Anyway, my traveling is mostly restricted to the summer time and I take advantage of this fact by chosing locations that are normally harsh in the winter. For example, I am going to Scandinavia next summer.

Welcome!

well it has to be money, all the other things can go take a running jump off the nearest cliff, money is really the only thing that postpones any of my traveliing...I'm gonna sound like a hippie now but hey ho...lifes to short to worry about all that other crap...there are soooooooooooooooo many people to meet across the world...sooo many new places to see, cultures to jump into... traveling you learn so much about yourself as well which is very rewarding..anywaya yatta yatta yatta...I'm off to plan my next trip to India...woo hoo

Heyyya so i voted NOTHING!! ive taken a year off before starting college (ok maybe like 2 yrs). And i read all the other issue's but C'MON now!! If ya wanna travel you make it the number 1 thing on your to-do list! and you will do IT! The only thing i can even see being a problem would be money, but even that there are things you can do to get more money. Nothing should stop you if you love to do something, not even money! there are someone beautiful, breath taking places to see and so many wickedly awesome people to meet in this world!!! So go out and travel!

much love!
