Someone once told me that travellers tend to be more left leaning and I wanted to test the theory.

I'm very left-leaning, but not in any way like the way Democrats think/are perceived in the US. I believe in absolute freedom, meaning every idiot including racists, communists, jingoists, etc. have a fundamental right to express themselves, but it also means that it all comes with the chance of being singled out, pointed at, and being laughed at by everyone else. Equal opportunity to express, equal opportunity to get bashed. It's your right to hate ______, and it's my right to hate you for it.

I consider myself a left leaning individual and I think omisan expressed how I feel personally. However, I don't like to discuss politics all that much so this is pretty much the extent of my participation in political threads.

i'm sick of politics, power corrupts, there is not a system in the world where equaility will excist. All those who have power, become corrupt, abusive and lose all human dignity, or are considered to be a weak ruler. there will always be the proletariat, and a bourgeoisie, with every revoloution and movement those who fight, become what they were fighting, or fail.
politics sucks, along with religion, there is nothing wrong with wanting order, or belief, but as soon as you find people who want to make an institution, and put them in a room together it all goes pish.
and every anarchist i meet gets right on my tits, hows survival of the fittest fair? its just blatently honest.

I consider myself to be a leftwinger but I don't participate in politics as much as I should. You could say I talk the talk but I don't walk the walk or perhaps maybe an armchair activist. I hail from a small town full of conservative folk and there isn't really much in the way of political involvement besides local issues. However, I think this is one of my NewYears resolutions...to be more politically active. There is a great movie called Shame directed by Ingmar Bergman that deals with the subject of an artist who doesn't particioate in politics and eventually it catches up with him. Check it out sometime.

Civil libertarian, fiscal conservative. Gun rights advocate. Legalization of hemp advocate. Recovering Catholic.
That answer it well enough? :D

Pro choice. Pro gay rights. Pro gun rights. Support the death penalty. Don't believe the taxpayers should be responsible for supporting everyone. Anti war. Pro legalization of marijuana, provided it doesn't have extreme negative ramifications on the economy. I like money and buying nice stuff.

So for the most part like me, a Civil Libertarian across most lines.
I've found that with the exception of a select few folks, most tend to have both liberal and conservative ideas. You couldn't pigeonhole them into one specific party... anyone else?

Welcome to postmordernist society. where consummerism and globalisation rule all
you see it in religion, its a pick and mix, catholism (just as an example), you may not go to church every week, and you use contriception, but you'll still be baptised, married, and buried in a church, its a pic'n'mix for whats convient to you, you'll still hold the morals and ideals of the church, just not the values, hierachy and the ritual of the church. also its not just their religion that people will treat as a convience, they'll take parts from other cultures and religions, yoga, meditation, feng shue (sp?), new age movements.
strict docterins are out, a range of ideals and beliefs (when appropriate/useful) are in

I'm proud to say I'm a Libertarian. I have been since before the 2000 election...
Between Democrats and Republicans, though, Democrats will more often get my vote. I certainly don't recognize the Republican party today to be ANYTHING like its principles.

I've never sided with parties, and always tried to vote for the person...unfortunately, in the last few elections, I've been voting against people rather than for anyone. kinda sucks that my choice has become more of "who's not gonna fuck me over more".
anyway:
pro choice, pro gay rights/marriage, pro gun control, pro universal health care (although I want to see Canada's rehauled), pro military spending (Canada's military is a joke and the feds have become way too dependant on riding the US' coattails...hell even fixing up a few hellacopters and boats would be a start. I'm not talking about building a huge military, but we used to be able to hold our own on the world stage), anti iraq war, pro Newfoundland independance, pro Quebec independance (or a Newfoundland/Quebec partnership resulting in a new country), for more stringent environmental regulations for big business, pro local business (and business in general to an extent), pro legalization of marijuana, for justice system rehaul (a drunk driving killer usually gets a year or 2 max, wtf.), anti death penalty....

I'm a lefty fer sure, but that doesn't mean I automatically like Democratic politicians. My views on freedom coincide with Omisan's and expanding on that, I am pro-choice, pro-gay rights & marriage and pro just about anything else that gets White Male Christian Right-Wing Party's knickers in a twist.
