Amazing, wonderful and great - I loved this place! The hostel is in a beautiful old colonial house with tall ceilings, big doorways and mosaics on the floor. We found that we met a lot of cool people there - I guess like-minded people stayed there, so meeting someone wasn't a problem. The breakfast included with the price of the room is wonderful, served fresh for you and different each day. The staff was very helpful and they answered all the questions we had and aided us with booking tours (the tour guide picked us up in front of the hostel). We found the rooms to be huge and extremly clean - each room was cleaned daily, the linens were fresh and new towels were delivered each day. The little bar area on the roof is cool and makes a nice place to hang out in the evening to have a beer or two. The location is also great - only 3-4 blocks one way to Paseo Montejo in one direction and 5-6 in the opposite to the central plaza, making it close to everywhere, but slightly out of the way if you want peace and quiet. I guess if you want a party place this would not qualify (then again it all depends on the people that stay there). We stayed there during the Carnaval (Feb-Mer 2006) in a 2 person room with a private bathroom and it was great (the room also came with a TV, but to be honest we never even turned it on). The room had a big hanging fan and we found it sufficient (no AC needed). Most likely due to the high ceilings the room was nice and cool even in the hot weather. I highly reccommend it!
