Lafayette International Hostel
I just got back from a weekend in NYC and, on the reccomondation of my roomate who came with me I decided to stay at the Lafayette hostel in Brooklyn. All I can say is, this hostel rocks! The staff from Zurich are very friendly and hostel is always clean. Its basically a converted house with about 2-3 dorms a kitchen and 2 common areas. It also has lockers (but you need a lock) cable TV and wifi internet if you have a lap top as well as a computer for general use
Now, the hostel is in Brooklyn which means that you're about 30 mins from Manhattan so while the hostel will be quieter than one "down town" the subway will be needed to see most of NYCs tourist attractions.
But over all I totally and compleatly reccomend this hostel.
