Ah-Haramain Hotel in Damascus
This "hotel" is the best hotel in Syria. Located in the center of Damascus, it is a traditional style Ottoman house, with 3 levels.
There are private and dorm rooms, I stayed in a dorm which was like 300 SYP a night (6 dollars US). People werSe chill, pretty much all backpackers from all over the world (not like in Europe where all you see are Aussies and Canadians)... and WARM SHOWERS! This is otherwise an impossibility in the Middle East. Great shower pressure too! That is almost as important!
Cheap, Central Location, Clean, Close to ATMs, and 10 min walk to the Old City... Great Stay in Damascus.

Nice review. And this is the first time I read your signature. It might be the best in Tpunk history. I love the "get in adventures" part.
