I'm planning on going to western europe on July 19th (wednesday). I hear that the cheapest is to fly to london and return from london. Just wondering if anyone has any recommenations on cheap flights, or if London is good way to go? Cheap ways to go form London to continental europe and back? If there is a way to enter one way and leave from another country?

I'm trying to get the cheapest flights possible so i can use more money during my trip :D

Any past experiences and tips would be very very very appreciated!

Hey there!

Toronto to London is usually a cheap way to go. I did it for around 500.00 cdn before taxes at the end of July last year. I did fly into and out of London, even though I travelled about Eastern and Western Europe. The flights I did take were easy and the budget airlines are good deals if you book far enough ahead.

Just remember, airlines like easyjet and ryanair do not allow much lenience in their policies. Make sure you know the weight restrictions and give yourself enough time to be one of the first inlines. I showed up a few hours early for an easyjet flight from Berlin to London and it was really awesome 'cause I was the 3rd person on the plane and got to pick my seat. Ended up with only 1 other person in my 3 person row.

Flying is cheap and fast, but remember things like the railways. They're always great for a view and some of the railpasses are a really good deal too. I met alot of locals and other travellers using the train and saw much more of the landscape than I could from planes!

I used itravel2000.com and didn't have a problem. I ended up flying airtransat and it was a decent flight there 'n back without any problems. It gave me the cheapest prices on the day I wanted to travel. Shop around though to different websites and just keep an eye out for seat sales and other specials.

Planning is definitely part of the fun for me! :D Hope you have an awesome time and if you have any other questions, toss 'em up here!

Jenn

Thanks very much for the tips Jenn!

I was just wondering when exactly did you buy your tickets? Right now they are at about $800 including taxes. I have a friend who went August 12th-Oct 2nd and only paid $560 with taxes but waited until the middle of july to buy them.

Should i wait? Do deals get better??

Thanks again

I bought my tickets at the end of May or early June. It was about a month and half before my trip. I think the prices are so high a far ways away simply because they want to make money on the people so ABSOLUTELY have to fly on a specific day.

I am nearly posititve if you wait alittle bit the prices start to drop about a couple months before hand. 560 sounds about right for that time of year if you buy alittle closer to the travelling date. My tickets did continue to drop in price as the date got closer, but have a set price in mind and when it comes up buy them! You don't want to wait too long and get screwed if they suddenly spike in price.
