Default My Itinerary for Europe (1month trip) Advice needed

Hi Guys,

In late November 08 i am going on a round the world trip. However i am having some difficulty with my Europe Itinerary. Last year i travelled to Europe but did a contiki and a brief 2 week sight seeing trip through the UK and France..

However this year i want to go a little bit further and see some cities that i have yet to have seen. Some places i am returning to see friends or because i genuinely liked the place. So please provide help and advice...

26/11/2008- Depart Sydney

27/11/2008- Arrive London

30/11/2008- Depart London arrive Paris

3/12/2008- Depart Paris arrive Amsterdam

6/12/2008- Depart Amsterdam arrive Berlin

9/12/2008- Depart Berlin arrive Vienna

11/12/2008- Depart Vienna arrive Ljubjana

13/12/2008- Depart Ljubjana fly to Rome

17/12/2008- Depart Rome arrive Florence

19/12/2008- Depart Florence arrive Lyon

20/12/2008- Depart Lyon arrive Barcelona

24/12/2008- Depart Barcelona arrive Paris (maybe arrive a day earlier or later)

................... The rest of the Trip.........................

27/12/2008- Paris to NYC & Toronto

03/01/2009- NYC to Johannesburg

08/01/2009- Johannesburg to Phuket via Singapore

16/01/2009- Phuket to Sydney

So please provide any advice on this itinerary, what should i take out or subsitute... just give me your thoughts...

Thanks

G'day Mate, welcome to TPunk.

In my opinion your schedule looks very rushed, especially when you consider that travel times can kill an entire day. I'd recommend dropping a couple of cities so you can fit in some more time for recovery.

A lot of people around here suggest that 3 days is the minimum amount of time to spend in any one city.

Very good itinerary, busy in the middle though, and as Adam said, travel times is eating a lot of time. And energy. It's exhausting in fact, so I'd suggest a slight change to save one or two days: try flying from Florence to Barcelona with ryanair. There is a Pisa-Girona flight, which is indeed the Florence-Barcelona stretch. It is unexpensive and you won't have to go all the way through Lyon.

Or, since I love Eastern Europe, I would highly recommend you continue further east, to Poland, Hungary, or the ex-Yougloslavia, and skip Italy and Spain.

Voilà!

And welcome to travelpunk !
