E. Spain, S. France, N. Italy for 11+ days in May

Hello, I'm new to the site, nice to meet you all.

I would like to get help / suggestions / ideas on planning a 11+ day trip in Spain (starting Madrid or Barcelona), cutting up and through Southern France into Northern Italy, hopefully finishing in Florence.

My 3 friends and I are planning to do a little less than 2 weeks in Europe the end of this May. We are big photographers and would like to see a lot of the countryside for taking photos. We don't mind the cities, but don't want to spend all of our times in them because we know we will have more chances to return to cities in the future. Also some people on the trip are big wine lovers, so definitely a visit to the wine areas are in order. We have never been there before and don't know that part of Europe well, so we would love to get a suggestion of cities / towns to visit, a potential route, and comments on a workable itinerary.

I myself will have 11 full days in Europe due to schedule limitations. My 3 other friends will have 14 full days in Europe. So far we are planning to fly into Madrid and flying out of Florence so it doesn't have to be in/out of the same city, but any alternative suggestions are much welcome too.
