Newgrange Stone Age Passage Tomb - Boyne Valley, Ireland is probably the most important historical site in Ireland. Some call it the Vatican city of the ancient world, there's all kind of surprising facts being dug up about it, like the Irish where the first civilisation to plot the course of the moon.
You should head over to Galway, it's a big student town, it's big into the traditional arts and it's a day trip away from connemra (postcard Ireland) and achil Island, which has a really cool fort on one of the islands.
If you want to see something different Northern Ireland might interest you. Now that the troubles are over there's loads to see and do (it's cheaper than the republic too).
