Certainly! Go to Madrid, and out of there, see Toledo and Segovia as day trips. Others recommend Avila as a good day trip out of Madrid, too. I took the train for both Toledo and Segovia. Another good one is Barcelona. And from Barcelona, you can take a bus up to Andorra -- the tiny country in the Pyrennes between Spain and France. I did that one as a long weekend, too. I would recommend flying in to Naples, and seeing the sights around there, too. I would stay in Sorrento (more tourist friendly), and visit Pompeii, Herculaneaum, Paestum, the Amalfi Coast, and even Capri, if you want. You can also fly to Copenhagen, and with the excellent public transportation, see quite a bit of Denmark on a long weekend. Let me know if you want more details...
