I find the boards too addictive and even worse when I got a trip in mind. There's lots of info here and if you want to ask a question you can't seem to find asked before, give us a shout!

Sounds awesome! Let us know if you have specific questions (some of us have lived/volunteered/worked abroad, so may have some more specific tips), and please tell us ALL about your experiences in Kenya. What an incredible experience, good luck.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
I've lived in only 2 countries, the Philippines and Canada but I have not stayed in a house for more than 4 years. My dad is a doctor so we moved a lot when i was a kid and when i was in university my place of residence always changed every year. In the Philippines, I mostly lived in Manila or the outskirts, but always spent summers in my mom's hometown in Panay island.
Moved to Canada when I was 12 and lived in Winnipeg for almost a year, then spent 2 more years in a small town in northern Newfoundland. Finally came to Ontario and now living in the middle of nowhere in Northern Ontario.
As I've said, I just graduated from teaching so I'd really like to take what I learned and un-learn it all in Kenya... hahaha My husband and I are basically tagging along with a friend who has been to Kitale just this past January. I'll be teaching English at the centre and running a summer camp-like program in an orphanage called Seed of Hope.
Enroute to Nairobi, we have a 2-day stopover in Brussels (our first time in Europe) - it's not long enough but we'll take what we can get... so any suggestions on places to see, food to eat. etc. would be greatly appreciated!
Anyway, I've rambled on long enough.. see you around!
