Dead Sexy!
That's right, the ticket to Canada that I bought today is dead sexy! I've FINALLY got my act together and got some travel plans in motion. I fly into Vancouver in 5 and a half weeks, on the 5th of September!! I'll be in Canada for as long as I'm enjoying myself (I'm thinking two or so years). The only plans I have are to learn about mountaineering/ice climbing in the colder months and go rock climbing when it's warmer, so I'm open to any ideas, suggestions, and must do's that anyone can recommend. Also, I'm packing my meetup boots, so it would be awesome to meet a few tpunkers while I'm in the area.
I'm resigning from my job tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous about it to be honest. This is the first real job I've had and I've been here for 4 and a half years, so it's kinda scary. But, I did tell them months and months ago that I was going to be leaving at some point this year, so they should be cool with it...not that they really have a choice in the matter. Anyway, I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Happy Days!!

Thanks guys. I'm pretty damn excited about it.
I have to move out of the place I'm renting this weekend, so it's back to the oldies place for a month for me. It'll be interesting to see how that works out.

Yep. I'm going to bum around for the first few months, do a bit of travel, do some climbing, and get a feel for Vancouver, then I'm going to try and find mapping/GIS type jobs to support myself for the rest of the time I'm over there. Hopefully this plan will come together.

Well, it's official, I handed in my resignation today after 4.5 years here. The pay roll lady almost cried, what a little sweet heart.
So, as of the 29th of August i will be unemployed for the first time since finishing uni. It's kinda scary...but exciting.

Nick, I'm so proud of you! You are going to love it in Canada! Vancouver is a long ways away from Ontario where I live (so a meet up may be hard!) but you will love it out west. Chill people and you will love the snow sports.
You got bit by that travel bug a couple years ago and now who knows where life will lead you!

He's pulled the ripcord and jumped out of the plane...woo-hoo! I'll send you a PM about the whole "buddy pass" deal with USAirways that I have. They jacked up the prices a month or so ago, so it's not as good as a deal as it used to be (Jill/Dio has used a couple, as has Amber and Jenny). If you decide to take advantage of it, you're welcome. If not, that's fine as well -- I won't be offended.
Either way, I'm definitely going to have to make it out there for a meetup. Perhaps you and Jill can head down from Vancouver to Seattle and we can do a grand style one with Monsignor, Space Virgin and the gang...? Jill, when do you planning on leaving? Jenny and I are in Peru the middle/end of September, so won't be able to make it out till October, probably...
Big welcome, Nick, to North America...if a little early...!
