Default Hate my job, want to leave and backpack now!

So, A over a month ago I quit my job of over a year in a nice office because I thought I found something better paying. It turned out to be door to door Kirby vaccum sales and so after 2 days there I quit and find out the office I was originally at shut down our departments so I couldnt go back. I found this new job for a small collections company near my house. All I do is telemarket our services to apartment complexes. I work in a 7 person office with a bunch of rude, racist, white trash people. I hate it and just got my passport in the mail and want to fly out to Europe now! Luckily my old temp agency might have something lined up that pays alot better than this, just waiting on the call back!

At this point I want to go backpacking so bad that I am willing to sell my DJ equipment ($2500) and let my car get repoed so I dont have any worries and all I will have to do is work and ride the city buses and trains here until I can save enough money to go backpacking!

Right now I am in my office listening to a co worker cry on the phone to her husband who just got put in jail for a felony and how she is trying to get him out.... He got himself in there, he needs to shut up and do the time!

So, any feedback? Get rid of the car and DJ gear? If I keep the car I am pretty sure I wont be able to backpack because I will be cutting my funds very close and while I am gone I wont have enough to keep up my car payment.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... I wanna leave now!

Sell the dj equipment, and find another way to handle the car. Getting it repoed won't help. Try to sell it or find someone to take over your payments.

Do you still do a lot of DJ work that would require your equipment at a later time? $2500 is an awesome chunk of change to travel with, but it would suck if you needed the stuff later on for your career.

Default Nah

I rarely take the DJ equipment out of the house. All clubs I have DJed at in the past year or 2 have had all their own gear. I do a parties and events every year and thats about all.

Yea I figure for 2 months around Europe and maybe a few days in Morrocco I will need about $7000 total. Air Fare, Rail Pass, Supplies, Hostels, Food, Goodies, etc.

Get rid of the DJ gear. 2.5k will get you a long way, especially in Eastern Europe. For example, excluding accomodation (since I was getting it free) in Ukraine I was only spending $100 a week on food, I was going out like every night.

Plane tix can be very cheap this time of year. Aer Lingus is probably ~$200 one way. If you really want to I'd say get 4 to 5k and go! No time like the present.

If you want some adventure and get out of the country BUNAC gives a working visa for Australia and you don't need to be a student.

What is up with T-Punks and job quitting?! It's amazing. You can tell we're people who enjoy life - if you understand travel, you understand that life is too short to deal with an awful job. I'm unemployed right now and up at my parents' saving grocery money and my sanity until I figure out my next step.

Sell the DJ stuff. I swear, if I had something of value to sell, I would be SO gone. And I would meet up with you! Try to pick the cheap-o hostels, but factor in a free breakfast with a HUGE food savings for the day. You can play with ethnic food appreciation for dinner and eat enough at breakfast to take care of lunch with some candy (Rittersport in Germany for less than $0.50 spells lunch for me) or whatever is cheap where you're going. If you're super health conscious, just walk more...(!!!)
