Hello. I found this site just yesterday and have already found a ton of information and links here that I am loving.

I have not been able to be out of the country for a while now, since last summer. I had gone on a trip to Australia and loved it. I now have been jonesing to go back out and get my backpack out and filled again. Well over the winter I had done a Alaska trip and a Florida trip to get it out of my system some but now it is time for Mexico.

Me and a friend are heading from Boston to the Mexico border on a bus and then exploring what we can in Mexico. We are psyched to be doing and to be out on the road. We opted for the bus mainly because we wanted to see some of the middle states, even if it is from the bus, and we figured trying this mode at least once can't hurt.

Well I just figured I would say Hi and get to recognize a few names.

What part are you looking at moving to? I had been to Kodiak when I was younger and had some great memories from there. I am not sure if your into fishing or not but I am and made it a big part of the trip. I was about 13 at the time and with me, my father and a friend of my uncles (we were there to visit my uncle/aunt/cousins) I had caught a 6'1 180 lb Halibut. That was a huge memory but so was lots of hiking, quad riding in total wilderness, exploring old bunkers from WW's and tracking down bald eagles picking up salmon out of rivers. Truly an amazing little island.

When I went this time it was to visit a friend of mine in the Army. We had a great time and stayed in Anchorage. We had down some hiking while there, made my way down to Seward (I am a big person into boats and this place is LOADED), did a little fishing, went to some wildlife parks and took a helicopter ride to some glaciers. Since I went to visit a friend there was also plenty of to catch up. And hey, we even kept it to only one run in with the law hehe

Your not kidding. I actually started keeping a journal a little before I went down to Australia and I can't tell you how glad I am that I did. There is so much stuff that when I look back at it that it just brings tons of memories back to me. It became one of my favorite "souvenirs", if you will.

Yeah it makes for a long bus ride but we kind of think there is an adventure hidden in that ride somewhere and we figure , if we don't like it, we don't have to do it again. But at least I know I tried it once hehe.

well, we (KCL and I) are looking at fairbanks and possible anchorage but we're not quite sure where we'll end up at the end of this summer. our lease is up at the end of june and we are kind of just jumping into our car and traveling around the US to camp and hike for about 2 months. after that we have to find a place to get jobs and live for a bit. we've always wanted to check out alaska for both the scenery and hiking.

Well fairbanks is pretty hardcore. I mean your pretty isolated out there. They also get the coldest weather , well I mean of actual like civilized towns and stuff, and they get snow earliest in the year. a lot of Army guys get their training done over there and they are dealing with like -60 F during the winter.

Your about 5 hours out of Anchorage up that way but like they say about Anchorage , the nicest thing about it is that your only a few miles from Alaska.

We're looking at crossing over into Mexicali. Thats where the bus drops us off and then from there well, we're not sure where we will head to.
